A friend in peril

Here's why it's been a while since my last post...

There’s not much worse than when a friend’s life is in danger…

Hey, all.

Apologies. It’s been a while since my last post.

Long story short: a good friend of mine had a terrible accident while hiking at high altitudes. I had to grab a red eye flight down to South America and support them and their family through the nightmare that is emergency surgery, recovery and dealing with insurance in a foreign country.

The good news is my friend is getting a little better every day. The doctors think that long-term they’ll make an almost full recovery.

I had to cancel 6 games I’d already scheduled to be here and make more work for my assignors. They all understood and I don’t regret it for a second. If the last week has taught me anything, it’s that there are more important things in life than football.

I’ll try to get back to writing here soon. Hope you, your family and your friends are all healthy.
