Contact doesn't mean a foul

Just discussing one play from MLS Matchday 19 Instant Replay. Was this a foul?

No foul, no penalty (3:04)

The voiceover seems to think this is a foul and a penalty but I disagree.

It seems to me that the defender didn’t “trip” the attacker here but instead established his space and the attacker initiated contact.

There’s a slight push but the attacker looks to be going down before the contact is made.
