"Treat every game like it’s the next level"

To quote an experienced referee I was chatting with.

If you always referee big games like you have a white badge on your chest, it will be hard to go wrong.

Just a good quote here to keep in the memory banks and remember before each game I work.

I’d like to become a Regional referee someday so my mentality needs to be, “how would a Regional ref handle this game?”

That will help me maintain really high expectations for myself. None of us can avoid mistakes entirely but we can always strive to improve our craft.

Who knows. Maybe with that mentality and 15 more years, I’ll have the opportunity to wear the white badge.
